Chris Ofili, "The Upper Room, 1999-2002"


"The Upper Room" at the Tate Britain is an installation of 13 paintings of rhesus macaque monkey's by English painter Chris Ofili. The large walnut panelled room is designed by architect David Adjaye. Each painting of a monkey is based around a specific colour theme (grey, red, white, etc.). The 12 smaller paintings show a monkey from the side and the larger monkey is depicted from the front.
